Update 12/7/09 Day 29

Dear friends,

Well, the fab five moved the boy room upstairs in anticipation of a non ambulatory Stephen coming home at some point in the near future. The parents new downstairs room is going to be spiffed up with a fresh coat of paint by some other fab ones, and with curtains and cushion covers by still other fab ones. The lovely and talented Cathy Rose will paint trees and bears, and voila! We will have a beautiful Adirondack bedroom for the trauma man to rest and recover in. This crew was put together by God. I'm so blessed I can't stand it!

Tired old me has to complain about all the driving I'm doing. OK, done complaining.

Hannah the Hard Working did 2 hours of geometry tutoring with her very own geometry teacher today. So far 4 of her 5 main subjects are being tutored by her own teachers! They are all rooting for Hannah to make a comeback, and since the Great One is rooting for her too, I'm thinking YES. Like I said many weeks ago, the enemy of the souls of men meant ill for Hannah, but like Job, God will give her back double for her trouble. She's having a bit of difficulty with a bone chip from her upper jaw working its way out through her gums. Ouch. The gentle Dr. Taranto will see her tomorrow to see what's up with that. These are the small annoyances that follow the kind of traumatic injury she has suffered. The big thing, the brain bleed, continues to heal and will continue for some time. She is moving forward and it's a total joy to see. She even went shopping (wait til you see her boots!) and hopefully we will soon post photos of the event. Since I hate to shop, you will not see me in the photos. I was nowhere near that hothouse of commercialism. I get the hives just thinking about it. But there are others with great skill....

Stephen hopped today. You heard it, hopped. Not a heck of a lot, but they rigged up a walker so he can rest his right arm on it, and use his left arm and leg, while someone holds that blasted right leg. (Tiring just to describe). Just to remind you, he can't bear weight on that right leg until at least the end of February. The right arm near the end of January. So, here's our need, Oh God: A functional left side to go from bed to wheelchair to privy, SAFELY, so sweet darling husband can heal at HOME. At some point, Sunnyview is going send Steve somewhere else til the right side bones are ready to rock n' roll. (The nurses there will be sad. He makes them smile). Then, he'll go back and work on the right side. By then, we'll be thinking about flowers and mulch instead of holly and mistletoe.

Again today I stood amazed as person after person today laid down their life for me. Their own schedules, families, pleasures, finances, etc., etc. were put on the back burner to help my family. I'll never recover from this kind of kindness. Jesus said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". That is what you all have done for me. I'll say it again, if I mentioned every name and every deed, my hard drive would explode. So just know I love you dearly. I can't wait to see all of your rewards!

Loriann,
I have been wanting to write to you but honestly don't know what to say. I am speechless each night that I read your notes. You are truly a remarkable woman. I wait until I read your note before I go to bed so that I will know exactly want we need to pray for. You and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers. My mom and the rest of your family here in Mass. are also praying.I know you will find the strength from our Lord to go on each day. Please let Steve and Hannah know that we are with them each step of the way in pray.
Much love and constant prayers,
Pam Letendre

Dear cousin Pam,

Thank you for your kind words and especially the prayers. Please hug and kiss auntie evie for me - she prayed for me when I was in the lowest place many years ago, and she is a great woman in the kingdom of God! I love you all and look forward to a summer day when we can have another reunion at your house.

Loriann,

This is the prayer David gave after the people responded by giving freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. “Praise be to you O’ Lord God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Yours O’ Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength & power to exalt and give strength to all.” I Chronicles 29:10-12 & vs. 14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be given to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”

Isn’t that much like you are experiencing during this journey we ride along with you?! For in his hands is our strength to give to you what he has given to us so freely. Thank you for allowing us to give a portion to you what Christ has given to us.

Love, Karen & Mike G.

Dear Karen and Mike,

Thank you for that beautiful insight. And for the comfort, literally, you have given to Steve. I love you both!
